CORRALEJO-Once a fishing village, has seen a great rise in apartments and villas in recent years and is now the largest resort on the island with numerous shops, bars and restaurants. In spite of its growth it has managed to retain its village atmosphere with a main street colourful with flowers, an attractive town square and a largely traffic free area boasting views out across the bay where you can sit and dine.
There is no shortage of places to eat, Spanish, Mexican, Chinese and Indian restautants. Some offer typical Canarian dishes with fish caught that day.
Night life is low-key with a handful of disco's, a selection of bars and free entertainment in the town square most evenings, flamenco, live music ect.
There are two beaches where you can bathe, swim, jet ski, go game fishing, scuba dive (there are schools in the town) and mountain bike hire is popular.
Just a mile or so away are the famous sand dunes, a seven mile line of uninterupted white sand. Beaches just dont get better than this.
